Laura’s Start Up Guide to Younique
Ok so you’ve just signed up as a Younique Presenter! Congratulations! Now What?
Once the initial rush of excitement dissipates, often doubts and fears start to creep in. You have feelings of “Oh no, I have no idea what I’m doing,” or the beautiful kit of make up arrives and you think, “Um, how the heck am I supposed to sell this stuff?”
First step: breathe! It’s all going to be ok! Yes, you’ve just started a new business and it’s new and scary and unknown…but! There is a lot of support for you and you will have all of the tools to have a strong, profitable business and earn yourself the extra income you desire.
Here is the list of the groups you need to be in:
BGG Start Strong Group – This is the initial training group that contains 4 videos for you to watch. Once you have watched the videos (and I recommend you watch them with a notepad and pen) You will have the opportunity to participate in a LIVE Q&A Session in the group which is run monthly. This is a great opportunity to speak to an Elite first hand and have your questions answered.
Party Youniversity
PRS Youniversity
Sponsoring Youniversity
These groups are open to you when you have graduated from the “BGG Start Strong” Group.
PRS, Party and Sponsoring Youniversity groups are set up by our Black Status leader, Kizzy Harvey. Kizzy has over 10 years experience in the industry and was top of the company in her previous role as an Ann Summers Rep. She knows her stuff, and has a lot of valuable training to offer. Regularly refresh yourself in those groups and check for updates.
Younique Sweethearts – This is your Elite Chat/Training group run by Orange Status leader Laura Burton, where you can post questions or updates on how your business is going. Training and information on upcoming events will be posted into this group so be sure to check regularly to keep up to date. This is a community group where you can make friends and enjoy working with others in your team.
Beyouty Goes Global Black Status Chat Group – This is your Black Status group, which has regular Live training by Kizzy Harvey and the elites within the team. Team incentives and competitions are posted in this group and is also where Kizzy holds the End of Month online Parties.
Younique Family – Presenters Only! – Promotion announcements, new Kudos pictures, News, Live videos and more are posted in this group. This is the official Younique group from Corporate.
*
Right, so now you know which groups you need to be in. These are the groups you will need to add potential sponsors into. Don’t worry if you forget -all of this information is in the Younique Sweethearts pinned post.
Now, you might want to have a look through the team files in the Sweethearts’ group. “Facebook – Use it Wisely” is a good start to get an idea on how you can use Facebook to work your business instead of falling into the trap of mindlessly scrolling through the newsfeed!
Also, it is in our presenter agreement (Also found in the team files) that Presenters need to supply an invoice/receipt to customers. If orders are placed directly through the website by your customers an invoice will be sent to them from Corporate. However, when placing group orders for local ladies you will need to create your own.
A simple template of an invoice is found in the Sweethearts’ files for you to use or you can create your own. I recommend you save this to your computer.
Business Administration:
Have a file on your laptop/Computer titled “Younique” where you can have some subfolders: Invoices – Customers – Team – Training (For example)
I recommend saving the Excel template (also found in the Younique Sweethearts files) and entering the details as and when you need to.
Keep track of your expenses for tax purposes. As an Independent Presenter you will need to register as a Sole Trader with HMRC. Officially HMRC require you to register within 3 months of starting your business to avoid penalties. When you do register, (which is free) you will be given a UTR (Unique Tax Reference Number) you will need this to create a Gateway ID and fill out a tax return. Many presenters have an accountant to do the tax return for them. Contact Laura Burton to discuss your options.
Note: The tax year runs from April – March and your tax return is due the January after the end of the tax year. For Example: If you joined June 2016, your tax return will not be due until January 2018.
Global Business Guide:
The Global Business Guide is your Younique Bible. It is in your office under MY PROFILE and its also in the Sweetheart’s Files. Save a copy to your laptop and refer to it regularly. The same can be said for the Presenter Agreement, which is updated from time to time.
In the Global Business Guide you will learn what PRS is and calculations for each market and how to work out what you need to do to achieve the statuses in the compensation plan. Read it. Take notes. And keep going back to it.
Your First Sale:
When you get your first order (Or Group order together) then create the invoice(s) and update your spreadsheet with details of the customer(s) and their orders. Keeping your spreadsheet up to date as you go along will make the admin much less daunting than trying to catch up at the end of the month.
After your first sale, you will receive an email from PAY QUICKER to set up your payquicker account. This is where you will be paid. It is an online bank so you will need to provide two forms of ID electronically. (Driver’s License, Passport etc)
Once your Pay Quicker account is set up you will receive your commission 3 hours after every order is placed through your website.
Parties
Anyone can host a party, including you. I recommend opening up a party every 10 days so that you can always attach an order through your own party to earn rewards.
To open up a party, go to MY OFFICE – MY PARTIES – and click on SCHEDULE A NEW PARTY. Follow the simple steps and you will end up with your party link. You can share this link via email, text or on social media. This link will be emailed to you but do not worry if you lost it you can ATTACH TO A PARTY at checkout.
PARTY REWARDS: When your party qualifies (200PRS or £160 orders) you will start earning rewards in the form of Y Cash (Credit to go towards purchases) or ½ Price Item Vouchers *PRS and commissions are not earned against orders where a ½ price voucher has been applied.
There is a table to show you what rewards to expect from your party when you scroll to the bottom of your party page (MY OFFICE – MY PARTIES – Click on the party that is open) If you click on the pink question mark, you will be able to learn more about the party rewards and “Click Here” to see the table which will tell you exactly what you will earn.
This is a party planning company. Our niche is that we can run a “home” party on Online. Most online parties are run on Facebook in the form of an Event or a Group. However, Google Hangout is also a good platform to do a Live FB party online.
Parties will help you meet new people (friends of friends) and this will help you branch out of your friends and family circle. We do not make money off friends and family. They may want to support your business to begin with, but the key is to allow them to be your walking advertisements and refer their friends to you.
Getting Started:
You may want to search “Make money from your Presenter Kit” in the Sweethearts Group and you will find a training video on how to use your kit to start making money.
Makeovers on family members and posted on social media will help increase your exposure.
Host your own online party and encourage others to host one for you too. Many people in the UK do the traditional Home Parties, you can run one with just your kit. I call them a “Kit party,” When you make sales and earn Y Cash you can increase your kit and enjoy the commission you’ve earned from the party. This is the best strategy to avoid going into debt for your business.
That is not to say that investing in your business is never a good idea. If finances allow, building your kit and purchasing gifts for key friends and family members who have a wide circle of friends, can be a strong strategy for 1) reaching Yellow Status quickly to earn 25% commission on your sales and 2) have more referrals at the beginning.
Some presenters also pay for FB Boosting and Google Ads. This is a difficult strategy which requires a lot of trial and error – there is training on YouTube on the subject, many times it is a matter of luck whether your Ad Campaign is successful or not. If money is tight, take caution when considering this option.
If you are an avid reader and enjoy the written word, perhaps consider starting your own blog. Blogs score highly in the Google Search engine. If someone searches “3D+ Fiber Mascara” a blog post will be shown before a shop page.
There are a few factors that will make your blog score greater than others:
Present content, post consistently to tell Google that you provide fresh content on a regular basis.
Have several websites link to your blog (Your website, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube to name a few)
Videos , create your own YouTube videos and embed them in your posts. Google owns YouTube and wants users to go to YouTube over other websites.
Wordpress is the best website for blogging.
You can also go down the route of having your own . Whilst this is a timely process to set up and maintain, it can have strong benefits in the long-term as you build your customer base and following. A website adds credibility to your brand and you can send customers and your sponsors to the same website for their different needs. Weebly is user-friendly with templates to build your own FREE website.
When choosing what avenue to take with your business, consider your strengths and financial situation. Feel free to book a coaching 1-2-1 with your upline or Laura Burton to discuss which direction you may want to take.
Just remember:
The bottom line is that YOU run the show. You decide how you want to run your business and how far you want to go with it. One size does not fit all so its important to be open-minded and strongly consider what is best to suit your circumstances.
If you want to progress past Yellow Status and start earning residual income you will need to expand your team. This means offering the job opportunity to others and allowing them to sign under you.
Eric Worre’s “Go Pro” book or Audio is good for learning how to approach people with the opportunity and follow up professionally.
It is extremely important to learn these skills to avoid alienation and upsetting friends and family. So seek out training on Sponsoring on a regular basis.
When you have a team, you will need to add them into the groups mentioned above, and be there for them during their first few weeks in the business. Make sure they read this document and know where to find information that will help them. It’s important to remember though, that everyone is an independent presenter and does not need to be managed.
Big Al’s “How to Build Networking Leaders” is a good book to start with for training on leading your team.
Giving your sponsors recognition is extremely important. I use PicCollage or Photofy to create posters that I put up in the team group AND my personal wall so that my sponsor and her friends see her success.

Incentives:
Younique Corporate run incentives and competitions to earn free products, trips, experiences and even the Younique Make Up Trunk! Black Status and Elite Leaders also run incentives at their own discretion. It is not compulsory to do incentives for your team but you may wish to do so as it can increase morale within the team.
Customer Service:
Younique offer a Customer Service (Support) for Presenters to email, phone or Live chat with a member of corporate to discuss complaints or questions you may have either yourself or from your customers. It is best to phone (and free) because many replies to emails are scripted due to the large volume of emails they receive, this is also a much slower process to go through. They are really friendly so don’t be shy!
To find Customer Support, go to your website and scroll to the bottom for the link. You will find their contact details and opening hours on your website.
If you are having trouble with resolving a matter with support, your next line of contact is your upline which then can be escalated to your Elite upline.
Business Hours:
As we work on social media and on our phones, we can be tempted to work at any time of the day. Please keep in mind unsociable hours and refrain from messaging or phoning uplines or team members when they should be sleeping. It is very important to have a good balance between work and family life. Think about those core hours that you want to spend with your family and to have offline. This will help you work efficiently and communicate with a clear mind and in a professional manner. This will also avoid the “get off your phone” comments from significant others.
The Big Secret to Success:
You need 5 Pink Status presenters on your team to make Elite Green Status (And this is where you start to see a decent paycheck) Don’t overcomplicate this business. To progress in the company you need to simply reach Pink Status and then teach your downline to reach pink too.
We have a monthly Pink Wats App Challenge group for 7-10 women to participate in daily challenges that will help them reach pink status. This is great on two levels – 1) The success rate is fairly high, 4/7 on average actually hitting pink in that month and 2) One the participant hits Pink Status, she will know how to run a similar group for her downline and duplicate the process.
AND FINALLY:
The 5:3 Method this is 500 PRS in sales and 3 sponsors every month. If you aim to get 500 PRS and sign up 3 people every month – and teach them to do the same…your business will boom.
It’s really simple. If you strive to learn the skills needed in the Network Marketing Company, follow the 5:3 method and build your pinks, you will be Black Status and running a highly profitable and sustainable business in no time.
Always remember, you are not alone. The company mission is to: Uplift Empower and Validate women. As long as you remember that mission and treat your team mates with the mission in mind, you will be very happy and find success within this company.
